Julia Im
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Julia, originally from Wilmington, NC, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Elon University and taught 2nd grade for two years in Durham Public Schools. Motivated by her passion for helping children with communication barriers, she earned a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).
At UNC, Julia focused on speech, language, and feeding disorders, working with diverse children in various clinical settings and conducting research in literacy education. She has a keen interest in pragmatics, especially in supporting children on the autism spectrum and those with complex behavioral needs, as well as those with genetic disorders.
Her experience with the Feeding Team at UNC provided her with valuable insights into pediatric feeding difficulties. Julia employs a compassionate, evidence-based approach tailored to each child’s unique needs, fostering positive therapy experiences that promote healthy growth. She is dedicated to staying current with advancements in the field and believes deeply in the transformative power of communication.
In her free time Julia enjoys crocheting, hiking, thrift shopping and watching movies.
